Established in 1931, the Hythe Fire Department is a robust and unique fire department in the county of Grande Prairie.
Our mission is to provide service to the community by protecting life, property and environment through prevention, public education and emergency response with well-maintained equipment and highly trained, dedicated personnel.
In 1956 the department moved into a Two Bay building located at 10026 101 Ave, where the department remained for the next Fifty Years until a new building was constructed. During this occupancy, the building was upgraded to include a Third Bay at some point to allow for an additional vehicle to be acquired.
In 2006 the department moved into its current Six Bay station located at 10004 102 Street, where it currently provides services from.
The department currently consists of a volunteer force of 10 highly trained individuals who operate as a team, to provide Emergency Medical Response, Fire Suppression, Motor Vehicle Accident Response, Public Education, Public Safety, and Technical Rescue services to the Village of Hythe, Horse Lake, and surrounding County of Grande Prairie residents.
